Autopay at petrol stations in Germany

From mid-February 2022, drivers refuelling in Germany at one of the 1,200 petrol stations in the Hem and Sprint networks can pay for fuel automatically using the Autopay app.

Autopay at German petrol stations works based on geolocation - a customer who pulls up to a petrol station launches the app, and the funds will be automatically taken from the connected payment card after refuelling.

The solution is primarily aimed at Polish drivers who regularly travel in Germany. More than one million people in Poland use Autopay every day to pay for motorway tolls. At German petrol stations, they will be able to use a convenient and familiar tool to pay for fuel without getting out of the car.

This is Autopay's first implementation of an automatic payment service at petrol stations. In the first half of 2022, Autopay will also start servicing the first petrol stations in Poland. Ultimately, Autopay wants to provide drivers with a fully automated payment process using videotolling, i.e., reading of plate numbers by cameras placed at the station.

We hope that in a few years' time the driver will not have to think about their wallet and money on the road at all, and will be able to focus on comfortable and safe driving, both in Poland and in neighbouring countries. The introduction of automatic payments for refuelling at German and soon Polish stations is another step in this direction” - says Miłosz Kurzawski, Member of the Management Board of Autopay.

Autopay - a comprehensive solution

Autopay is a fast and automatic payment system for individual and fleet customers. Autopay is currently the only solution that allows you to automatically pay for almost every kilometre of toll roads in Poland - no matter which system is in place or who manages it. Autopay may replace e-TOLL on the A2 Konin - Stryków and A4 Wrocław - Sośnica sections, and videotolling on the following concession motorways: AmberOne Motorway A1 and A4 Kraków - Katowice. Using Autopay, you can also pay to have your car washed at one of 200 Shell and wwwash car washes and to park in one of 8,000 parking spaces in Warsaw, Poznań, Katowice and Wrocław.
